This is the 5th installment of the Abstrakt series from BrewDog. AB:05 is a Belgian Imperial Stout aged on toasted coconut and cacao, and sports an ABV of 12.5%.
Looks
Very dark with milk chocolate colored head. The beer looks like thin oil when poured into the glass.
Aroma
The nose consists of licorice, toffee, chocolate and some light smoke. I’m not getting too much coconut. There is some alcohol as well.
Flavor
The first thing this beer gives me is sweetness, and lots of it. There is some coconut flavors with some dark bitter chocolate as well. The flavor somehow reminds me of coca cola. There is not much alcohol in the flavor but it feels strong, and it has a nice mellow carbonation level.
Finish
The finish is long and has some nice notes of chocolate and toffee.
Rating
In my opinion this is the least good of the first 5 Abstrakt beers. The beer is interesting but it feels a bit artificial. Score: 3.1/5.
