Beer review: Nøgne Ø Wit

Review number two in the series of grocery store beers from Nøgne Ø. This time it’s the lovely Nøgne Ø Wit, a Belgian style wit beer with loads of taste and character.

Nøgne Ø WitLooks

Light orange hazy color with big white head.

Intense citrus aroma with some yeast on the side. Small hint of banana as well (which is quite normal for this style of beer).

The flavor is even more intense! Loads of coriander and orange peel has gone into this beer, which clearly comes through. Lots of lovely citrus flavor!

There is a very mild bitterness as well, and the lovely level of carbonation just intensifies the flavors. Very refreshing!

A bit soapy finish at first, then it mellows out and leaves a taste of orange zest. Very good!

Food matches

Nøgne Ø suggest using this beer to steam mussels, which sounds really interesting.

As with the Nøgne Ø Blonde, I would enjoy this beer with light sea food dishes (or just as a refreshing drink by itself).

Yet another great beer from Nøgne Ø. Score: 3.3/5.

Batch: #567
