Beer review: Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla Stout 2010

Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla Stout 2010Looks

Dark brown/black with a tan head. The beer had an oily look when poured.

The first thing that hits me is vanilla. Quite a lot as well. When getting through the vanilla there are some dark fruits, oak and a tiny hint of alcohol. Smells absolutely delicious.

The mouth feel is extremely pleasant. Silky smooth!

Loads of vanilla up front. After a while some of more of the oak shines through, along with some dark chocolate and lovely roasted malts. Very complex flavor, but also very balanced.

An absolutely stunning beer!

Long sweet finish with vanilla and dark chocolate up front, and some roasted malts that sticks around until the end.

Food matches

This beer would be very good with some sweet chocolate desserts, but I’d actually rather enjoy this beer by itself.

This just might be one of the best stouts I have ever had. I don’t have any negative things to say about this beer. Score: 5/5.
