Black as night with a big mildly tanned frothy head which leaves some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is mostly roasted malts, with a surprising amount of hops.
Roasted malt, dark chocolate and cold coffee. The beer is also more bitter than I would have expected.
The mouth feel is a bit thin, but still packed with flavors.
Long, slightly bitter finish with much roasted malts and coffee.
Because of the dark chocolate hints and the coffee this beer will work well with a chocolate dessert like dark mud cakes, or simply with a good dark chocolate.
I’m not really too impressed with this beer. I can’t get passed the thin mouth feel, and it’s a bit too much coffee flavors. I don’t think the beer is balanced enough. Score: 3.5/5.
