Beer review: Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen

Time for another low alcohol beer review here on BeerNorway. This time it’s a wheat beer from Flying Dog Brewery.

Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat HefeweizenLooks

Hazy orange color with a minimal head.

Hefeweizen’s are supposed to be hazy (Hefe if the German word for yeast, which is used to differentiate between unfiltered and filtered wheat beer).

A yeasty aroma with strong hints of orange. Smells very refreshing!

The flavor is much like the aroma. Strong orange hint and a bit yeasty. The mouth feel is very good for a beer with this low ABV (4.7%).

Short refreshing finish with a taste of oranges.

Food matches

Today I had this beer to some seared salmon seasoned with salt, pepper and some lime. The citrus from the beer worked well with the small hint of lime I had on the salmon.

Wheat beers are also very good thirst quenchers on a hot summer day.

I really enjoyed this wheat beer. It’s available in some of the grocery stores here in Norway since the ABV is below 4.7%. Score: 3.8/5.
