I fancied an IPA today and happened to find a bottle of Avery IPA in my fridge. Let’s check it out!
Light orange color with slight haziness and white head.
Very fruity hoppy aroma on this beer. There is also a good amount of malt coming through.
I’m getting grapefruit, pine and some pineapple. What a lovely aroma!
The first thing I’m noticing is the nice malty body. Not too bitter, but still loads of flavor from the hops.
Pine and green grass are the first things that I think of when tasting it. It feels very well balanced with a pleasant amount of carbonation.
The hops really show who they are in the finish of this beer. Long bitter finish with loads of pine.
I had this beer to chicken fajitas with spicy homemade taco seasoning, red onions, cucumber, red peppers and homemade guacamole. For me this was a pretty good match. The spiciness of the seasoning played well with the bitter flavors of the beer.
One of the better IPA’s I have had in a while. Score: 4.6/5.
I picked up this bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo.
