Beer review: BrewDog Prototype 17

This is the second time I have reviewed this beer on the blog. The reason for this is that it’s a part of The 2011 Prototype Challenge over at Read the previous review of this beer here.

BrewDog Prototype 17Looks

Dark golden color with white head. The beer looks a bit different from last time around. It had a peachy hue that is not present any more.

There is a good amount of raspberries in the aroma. There are also some Whisky undertones to it. Other than this is smells like an average lager.

Mild raspberry flavor with some malty sweetness. The beer reminds me a lot of BrewDog’s 77 lager (which this beer supposedly is based on), and it has a very crisp body.

The raspberries have lost a lot of flavor since the last time I tried this beer.

There are some grassy notes in the start of the finish. After a while it gets a bit bitter. A small hint of raspberries lingers around a good while.

Food matches

I might enjoy this beer with a chicken salad (with a small amount of sweet fruit, like pineapple).

The beer resembles a regular lager this time around. When the raspberries were a bit more present the beer was more interesting IMHO. Score: 2.9/5.
