Beer review: Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga (The Firefly)

The second Jolly Pumpkin beer I’m reviewing is Luciernaga, a Belgian style ale.

Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga (The Firefly)Looks

Orange / Amber hazy color with big white head. The head laces nicely on the glass.

Hops and yeast are the first things that comes to mind. The aromas coming through are quite sour actually. There are some malty and floral aromas as well.

The flavor is as expected. Complex and balanced. I’m getting some cirtusy flavors and a subtle sweet malty backbone. The beer is slightly sour and there are bitter notes to it.

This beer is very well balanced and quite complex. There is a lot going on and it’s quite hard to identify all the different flavors.

Pretty long and floral finish. Up front it’s very fruity and after a while some bitterness from the hops comes through.

Another really solid beer from Jolly Pumpkin. Score: 4.6/5.

Batch: 802/804
Bottled: 2011-05-20

This bottle was bought at Vinmonopolet at Vika in Oslo.
