Beer review: Lervig Brewers Reserve Rye IPA

Some weeks back I picked up a bunch of bottles at Vinmonopolet Vika, and this was one of them. A rye IPA from Lervig Aktiebryggeri. This beer is a part of the “Brewers Reserve” series, together with, amongst others, Lervig Konrad’s Stout.

Hazy copper color with a small egg-white head.

Very grassy nose up front. Loads of hops! I’m getting a good amount of oranges and grapefruit.

There are some small sweet hints as well, but the aroma is mostly hops.

The flavor is much of the same. Very hoppy and fruity with hints of oranges and green grass.

The beer feels well balanced with lots of flavor to match the bitterness. There is a good malty backbone to this beer which helps against the bitterness as well.

The mouth feel is smooth and the level of carbonation is also very pleasant.

Bitter up front with some nice malty sweetness after some seconds.

I really liked this IPA. Quite bitter and packed full of aroma and flavor. Score: 4.3/5.

This beer is available at Vinmonopolet.
