Deep orange/brown color with a big off-white head. The beer has a muddy look to it.
Strong yeasty hint that reminds me of many other Saisons. There are also some hints of pineapple and some bitter grassy notes.
The mix is quite interesting. For me the Saison-like aromas are the strongest.
The flavor is much like the aroma. Yeasty hints with some lovely sweetness from the malt along with some hints of pine, grass and some spices.
The mouth feel is silky smooth with a quite sharp carbonation, much like many other Saisons.
Up front there are some hints of sweet pineapple, and after a while there are some small metallic hints coming through. Towards the end I’m reminded of grapefruit.
Both IPA and Saison are two very interesting styles of beer and this beer includes many typical characteristics from both styles. It’s a very balanced and enjoyable beer. Rating: 4.4/5.
I picked up this bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo, and the beer is Nøgne Ø’s batch #671. I would love to get my hands on Bridge Road Brewers’ version of the beer and do a side by side tasting!
