Beer review: Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (2011)

Time for a fresh hope ale. Sierra Nevada has been brewing this beer as a seasonal beer since 1981(!). It has won medals under the IPA category in competitions but is not really an IPA in style. Enough talk, let’s start tasting!

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (2011)Looks

Hazy amber color with big off-white head. The head has medium retention and leaves loads of lacing in the glass.

I’m getting citrus, fresh cut grass, grapefruit and caramel sweetness.

The flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma. A good amount if citrus freshness balanced out with some malty sweetness. The beer is very refreshing and the hoppy flavors feels very fresh.

The mouth feel is smooth with a medium/high carbonation level.

Up front I’m getting grapefruit, and after some seconds I’m reminded of summer with hints of fresh cut green grass.

This is a really enjoyable and refreshing beer. Very hoppy but also well balanced. Lovely! Score: 4.5/5.

This beer is available at Systembolaget in Sweden.
