And now for a real classic! Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. This beer has been brewed by Sierra Nevada since 1980, and is apparently the second best selling craft beer in the US (after Samuel Adams Boston Lager).
Lovely deep hazy amber/orange color with a solid off-white head that has good retention and that leaves some lovely lacing on the glass.
Some lovely malty notes along with pine and citrus form the hops. The beer has a really refreshing smell to it.
The flavor is pretty much spot on with regards to the aroma. Lovely malty backbone with some bitter notes from the hops. I’m getting pine, oranges and grapefruit.
The beer is well balanced and is medium carbonated. I find this beer easy on the palate despite the amount of hoppy flavors.
Pretty long and medium sweet finish with some hints of the hops used.
I don’t have much to complain about regarding this beer. It’s an absolute classic and is considered a benchmark Pale Ale. Score: 4.2/5.
