Beer review: Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA

And now for another beer from Sierre Nevada. This time it’s the Torpedo Extra IPA. This beer uses Magnum as bittering hops, and Magnum, Crystal & Citra for dry hopping. Let’s see how it is!

The color of the beer (and the head) is pretty much the same as Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale. The head on this beer leaves some lacing on the glass, just like the Pale Ale.

More of everything compared to the Pale Ale. I’m getting some lovely malty notes and a bitter punch from the hops.

The aroma is pretty fruity and has hints of pine and grapefruit.

As with the aroma the flavor of this beer is pretty powerful, but very well balanced. The beer is full bodied and has a solid malty backbone with some serious hop action going on.

I’m getting some caramel sweetness from the malts, and mainly pine and grapefruit from the hops. Pretty much as expected based on the aroma.

Very long finish which is bitter up front and with some lovely malty sweetness coming along after a short while. The finish is somewhat dry.

Yet another really solid beer from Sierra Nevada! Score: 4.4/5.

As with the Pale Ale, this is available from Vinmonopolet and Systembolaget.

I loved this beer myself. The most pine-tasting beer I have tried, and I loved it.
