Beer review: Stone Pale Ale

Stone review number two in this series is of the Pale Ale. This is according to Stone their flagship ale. Here is what they say about it:

Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness. This is an ale for those who have learned to appreciate distinctive flavor.

Stone Pale AleLooks

Slightly hazy with a deep orange color. the head is off-white and has good retention.

I’m getting mango and citrus aromas up front. There are also some spicy notes present. The beer smells really fresh!

The flavor matches the aroma well, with some tropical fruits and citrus. There is also a nice malty flavor present which balances out the bitterness from the hops.

As the beer warms up I’m getting some hint of grapefruit and some caramel sweetness. The mouth feel is medium with a comfortable carbonation level.

Very fruity up front with some malty notes taking over after some seconds.

A really lovely pale ale. Perfect balance of malts and hops. Score: 4.2/5.
