Review number three of five with beers from Stone Brewing Co. This time we have arrived at Stone India Pale Ale.
Hazy dark yellow/orange color with a big dense off-white head. The head has really good retention and laces all the way to the end of the glass.
This beer has a very fresh hoppy aroma. Loads of pine, and some flowery notes. There is also a hint of malty sweetness lurking in the back.
Like with the aroma the hops are dominating the flavor profile. As in the aroma I’m getting lots of pine and some citrus notes. The flavor has a lot of bitterness and not too much sweetness. The beer has a very crispy feel to it.
As the beer warms up a bit I’m getting a hint of lemon.
The mouth feel of the beer is smooth and the carbonation level is medium/soft.
Pretty dry finish which is mostly bitter and fruity.
Definitely one of the better IPA’s I have had. This beer should be enjoyed as fresh as possible, so watch the date before you pick up a bottle. Score: 4.6/5.
