And here we have arrived at the last in a series of five reviews of beers from Stone Brewing Co. The last one is the Oaked version of the Arrogant Bastard Ale.
Slightly hazy brown color with a full head. The head leaves some really sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is very fruity and has some hoppy character along with some clear malty notes. I’m getting some clear hints of the oak chips this beer has been aged with.
Flavor
The flavor matches the aroma very well. There is a good balance between the bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malts. The flavors from the oak is also prominent.
I’m getting a clear hint of pine in the flavor.
Finish
Pretty long finish which is sweet up front. The finish has a good amount of bitterness to it as well.
Rating
A complex and powerful beer. I prefer the regular arrogant bastard over this though. Score: 4.4/5.
