Beer review: Nøgne Ø Global Pale Ale

Time for a lower alcohol beer from Nøgne Ø, namely the Global Pale Ale, a pale ale with 13 (!) different hops. Global Pale Ale has an ABV of 4.5%, which means it can be bought in regular grocery stores in Norway.

Nøgne Ø Global Pale AleLooks

A lovely hazy dark yellow / orange color with a big off-white head. The head disappears quite quickly, and leaves some nice lacing on the glass.

Really fresh, hop heavy, aroma. I’m getting pine, grapefruit and lemon.

The flavor is also mostly hops, with hints of grapefruit and lemon. There is also a lovely malty backbone present, but most of the flavors come from the hops.

The body is surprisingly full for a beer with an ABV of 4.5%, and the carbonation is sharp.

Really long and bitter finish with hints of pine and grapefruit.

All in all this is a hop bomb! Loads of (tropical) fruity aromas and flavors. One of the best low alcohol beers around! Score: 3.8/5.
