About a year ago I tried BrewDog‘s Abstrakt AB:10 for the first time. Today I’m trying it again, and now it has spent over a year in the bottle. This beer is an Imperial Brown Ale aged in Spanish wine casks for 4 months. The ABV is 11.5%.
The beer looks much like it did last time around, with the exception of the head, which this time around is not as big.
The aroma is a lot more toned down compared to last year. I’m getting a lovely symphony of coffee, dark fruits, some nutty character, dark chocolate and toffee.
The flavor is also more balanced now. Coffee, chocolate, toffee, some dark fruits and some vanilla. Well balanced and really intriguing.
The body is full and the carbonation is soft.
Long finish with some tiny hints of the high ABV, but mostly coffee and some hints of wood.
I have stopped rating these vintage Abstrakts, but last year I gave this beer 4.5 out of 5, and I’m enjoying it more this time around.
Come back next year for another review of this beer!
