It’s been a while since I did a review of BrewDog‘s Abstrakt beers, so today I’m going to do two. First up is the latest in the series, AB:14. This beer is according to BrewDog an oak aged Imperial Weizenbock. Not exactly an everyday style, at least not for me. The ABV is as usual with the Abstrakt beers quite high, 10.2%. Let’s get it open!
Hazy copper color with a beige head.
Loads of banana up front. I’m also picking up some caramel and some faint vanilla notes.
The flavor also has quite a bit of banana to it, along with some citrus and spicy hints. I’m not picking up too much alcohol.
The mouth feel is full and the carbonation is nice and soft.
The finish is somewhat short and has hints of banana and some caramel sweetness.
This beer was quite unusual, but I really enjoyed it. It’s well worth a taste so grab it if you can. Score: 4.1/5.
