Beer review: Nøgne Ø Asian Pale Ale

And now for another low-alcohol beer by Nøgne Ø. Asian Pale Ale is a new beer, which will be available in supermarkets and grocery stores in Norway from early May. This beer is a pale ale brewed with a generous amount of Lemongrass, weighing in at 4.5% ABV.

Nøgne Ø Asian Pale AleLooks

Hazy golden color with a large white head.

The aroma has loads of lemongrass, making it smell really refreshing. There are also some other citrus hints and some malty sweetness.

Lovely amount of bitterness in the flavor, along with a huge amount of lemongrass. As in the aroma there is a nice sweetness balancing out the bitterness.

The body is really nice and smooth considering the low ABV. The carbonation is slightly sharp, but not to the point of it making the beer uncomfortable to drink.

Rather long finish as well with some peppery hints as well as hints of the lemongrass lingering for a long time.

Perhaps one of the most interesting low-alcohol beers I have had in a really long time. I will buy more of this as I’m guessing it’s a perfect thirst quencher on warm summer days.

  1. I love lemmon grass. There’s a Brazillian beer called 3 Lobos Exterminator which is made with lemmon grass and belongs to American Wheat style. It’s really amazing. Cheers from Brazil.
